The Clarkes
Mildred and Dorothy Clarke first made contact with my father, Frank Ockerby (b. 1925) having found an entry under Ockerby in the Sheffield telephone book.
Their mother had married into the Ockerby family coming through Charles' line (b. 1810). Recognising that the Ockerby line was due to die out with them, they had been sufficiently interested to plot their own line and also look for other lines that would prolong the Ockerby name.
Subsequent exchange of letters and cross-checking of information with my father was sufficient to spark enough interest for him to continue the research after their deaths.
